Our BCRMTA Young Artist, Linda Ruan, presented a most successful concert at Northwood United Church, Surrey, on April 26th 2015.
From the opening notes of the Bach Prelude, to the final notes of her encore, Flying Fingers, Linda performed with much skill, musicality and animation. She was a joy to hear.
It was a pleasure to see as many students as adults in the audience of about 150. Linda shared her thoughts and demonstrated unique musical figures before each of the repertoire selections. After the recital, Linda spent most of her time signing programs and talking with students – a real ambassador for pianists.
I appreciated the support of teachers who attended the concert and offered words of encouragement. Kudos to Kevin Thompson for selling the most student tickets.
Many thanks to our president, Helga Murray, for her gracious words of welcome and enthusiastic support of this project. Much appreciation to Marg Brew, Colleen Branson, Yvette Rowledge, Natalie Pardalis and Sharon Poon for their delicious treats for the reception, and to Jennifer Condie and Rob Hollins for front of house.
It was a great evening. We wish Linda every success as she heads off to the Glenn Gould School of Performing Arts in Toronto.
